Tonga eager for their first RWC 2007 match

12-Sep-2007

It could be the match of the day as world 14th ranked Tonga clash with 15th ranked USA at Stade de la Mosson on Wednesday, September 12.

Despite losing to England on Saturday the USA performed remarkably well and as such they are being wagered as favourites in their Pool A match against Tonga in Monpellier.

"Suddenly no-one is giving us a chance in this match after the way they played against England," exclaimed Tonga coach Quddus Fielea, "But we haven't played yet - let's wait and see what happens then."

The tongan Ikale Tahi are tradionally a very physical rugby team and their tactics differ from those of England so the USA have to take this game seriously if they hope to acheive a RWC 2007 match win. Tonga aspire to reach the quarterfinals and see the USA Eagles as a vital stepping stone to make their dreams come true.

USA centre Paul Emerick has been ruled out of the game due to receiving a five match suspension following a a dangerous tackle during the match against England.
