Fiji and Japan are ready to do battle

Both teams see the possibility of a win, with Japan wanting to absolve their large loss against Australia and Fiji looking to impress in their first RWC 2007 match.
Having only four days to recover from their last match, Japan will have to work hard today as they're up against the fast physical Fijians who are yet to have played in RWC 2007. Because of the tight turnaround Japan's coach John Kirwan has purposefully changed the team's starting lineup to simultaneously rest some players and present a stronger team to face Fiji.
Fiji are eager for a win in their first match, setting their sites on quarterfinal qualification. They have elected to bulk up their scrum in the hope of winning more ball to feed to their strong, agile backs. "We can play with the ball, but we need to win the ball and those battles are won upfront in regards to set pieces," commented Fiji's coach Ilie Tabua. Related articles:
