Argentina v Georgia - Pumas aiming to top Pool D

10-Sep-2007

After their great opening match against France, Argentina will be looking to put in another strong performance and pick up a bonus point on Tuesday but Georgia are preparing to make the Pumas work hard.

Argentina have jumped two places in the IRB rugby world rankings after last weekend's matches and they're now in with a good chance of qualifying for the quarterfinals and even topping pool D - considered a prize since it means avoiding the All Blacks in the quarterfinal.

Although the Pumas came out top of what is probably their toughest pool match they cannot afford to relax since a loss in any of their remaining pool matches could still see them going home early. A win and bonus point against Georgia would help their case and keep the momentum going.

Georgia plan on putting in a good game, if not to win then at least to prepare themselves for their match against Namibia on September 26 - one they are eyeing up as their potential first RWC win. Lelos prop David Khinchagashvili has commented, "We know we will have a tough game on Tuesday. All the guys are really concentrating on it and it's really important for us to show a good game".
