New Zealand thump Italy 76-14
8-Sep-2007
With an explosive start the All Blacks scored their first try just over a minute into the match, and proceeded to clock up the score to 76-14 at full time.
All Blacks captain Richie McCaw scored the first two tries, which were followed up with more tries in the first half by Doug Howlett, Mils Muliaina, and two by Sitiveni Sivivatu.
Italy looked a little more settled as the first half went on and managed to pick up a try under the posts with an intercept by wing Marko Stanojevic, making the score 43-7 at half time.
But the All Blacks continued their try frenzy in the second half, scoring another 5 tries to make 11 in total, with 9 conversions. Despite being decimated on the scoreboard, the Azzurri continued fighting until the end and were rewarded with another try in the last 10 minutes of the game.
The All Blacks have shown that they are fully committed to the world cup and are aiming on bringing the Webb Ellis trophy back to New Zealand. Related articles:
