South Africa too much for brave Samoans

9-Sep-2007

Manu Samoa fought hard but were overpowered by the Springboks 59-7 in their Rugby World Cup Pool A match at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

South Africa led early on with three penalties in the first 15 minutes but Samoa were keen to demonstrate their power, which they did with a try by Williams in the 18th minute. At this stage the match was anything but decided though the Springboks scored two tries near half time giving them the advantage.

The boks really fired in the second half picking up another six tries and sealing their win with a pool A bonus point.

South Africa wing Bryan Habana had an excellent performance and looked very pleased with himself as he notched up four tries through the match.

The South Africans will meet England on friday and are looking good to win Pool A. Manu Samoa, despite their large loss, showed committment and some explosive play and they'll be fired up for their next match, against Tonga on Sunday, September 16.
